Time Heals?

I was reflecting yesterday about how certain times and things in my life once triggered painful memories for me. After my separation and resignation from my first pastorate, the thought of preaching was painful. I almost turned down my first preaching opportunity when it was offered. (I’m glad I didn’t.) I would remember people from my past, and feeling of hurt or bitterness would arise. It’s different now.

People say that time heals all wounds. It most definitely takes time. For me, it is normally a few years. The group NewSong recorded the song “God and Time” nearly 20 years ago. God is the Healer, and He does things over a period of time. The process is important, and we should lean into God during the process.

Many of you may be unfamiliar with the song aforementioned, so I will end the post with it.

  1. Hello, and thanks for visiting my blog! I so agree with you that time can sometimes take a “long time” to heal our wounds–but God is faithful to do the work in us, so we can rest in that. May He bless you most abundantly–be Encouraged!

  2. I like what you shared. “Lean into it”. Good advice. His ways are not ours. We want to run, but you are truly right, ” lean into it”. Excellent. Thank you for sharing the song.

  3. I agree with you! Time does heal wounds, and God uses that time to help us build more trust in Him. If we were healed instantly, then we would not be able to look back at all of the miracles that God placed in our path. The time it takes to heal shows us the love and the glory of God, and once we reach that healing, we can look back and see all that God has brought us through.

    God bless you! 🙂
