You may not understand this unless you have been in ministry, but I struggle with relaxing on Saturdays. It is really my only due to relax and unwind, but I’m always thinking about what has to be done next. I posted in several pastor groups today, asking these fellow ministers if they are irritable on Saturdays. Many of them affirmed this. It is not that I pastor a bad group of people. In fact, they are great! The issue is within me, and the simplified answer would be to “chill out”.
There comes a point in each of our lives that we have to become more intentional. Many of us just let things happen rather than tell our schedule how it is going to be. We don’t prioritize exercise, quality time with children or our spouse, proper nutrition, or other things that really matter. I am understanding that I just might be less of a grinch if I scheduled my life in a much better fashion.
Maybe you are reading this and your boundaries are horrible. You and I can change that. We can take charge under the power of the Holy Spirit. Rather than being a miserable grinch who is overextended, let’s resolve for better time management and focus. Then we can sit back and enjoy the abundant life Christ died to give us.
