Last week, I was sure that our church had a new temporary meeting spot in the bag. It was a church of another denomination that was extremely kind and willing to help us. I have nothing but great things to say about the pastor and the lady I dealt with. They bent over backwards to try to make this work, but insurance issues closed the door.
I would lie if I said I was not discouraged by this. We are so quick to make plans when God has something else in mind. Sometimes what God has in mind goes against the cultural and religious grain of the day.
God is giving me what I asked Him. He is slowly building a church that will remain. We are being tested to see if we will continue His work, even if our methods are unconventional.
While I want to act in haste and resolve this issue right now, God continues to tell me to wait. Strength comes from waiting. I must admit that I feel an extreme amount of pressure as I am called to lead these people. Most of the pressure comes from within. The devil is shooting his fiery darts while God is reminding me that they can be quenched with the shield of faith. I must remember that the devil is a liar, and that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. That is something I can bank on!
