Expecting

Let me begin by saying that, to the best of my knowledge, my wife and I are not expecting another child. I’m sure some of you are wondering if we are ever going to stop😆. Anyway…

I’m sitting here on my lunch break thinking about the new year. In my last post, I stated that I believe 2019 will be a game changer. I am expecting something. Do I have a clue at this point what it will be? No. I have no way of forecasting anything, but I believe that God is ushering me into another season that will be built upon the past as its foundation.

Many people want to move into a new year while forgetting about the past. The past is what makes us. Pay close attention. I’m not saying that your past has to dictate your future. I am saying that the lessons of the past are a stepping stone to your future. Don’t miss the lessons!

I have spent parts of my life trying to block certain things from my mind. It doesn’t work. It always lifts its ugly head. At one time, I would have chosen for a redo. I would want to change so many things, but I must live in the reality that I cannot. I must choose to learn from the lessons of a failed marriage, ministry hurts, and life’s bumps in the road.

Go into 2019 with expectation. But don’t expect the past to go away. Expect that God will fulfill His promises in making crooked paths straight and using the difficulties of life as a testament to His faithfulness.

God bless each of you in this new year!

  1. I have found that God wastes nothing. Each success and failure build us towards a good future as we love God and allow ourselves to go in the direction of His purpose. I have learned these truths through my own failed marriage and the breaking of a relationship with an adopted child. There were many things I should have done differently. That said the lessons of the past can weigh us down or propel us forward.

      1. There were many hard lessons to learn but I am richer for them. I guess I still can’t figure it all out but I feel there are some things I never would have learned had I not walked through those dark places. I would never have chosen them but somehow I needed them.

  2. Happy New Year!!!

I agree, especially when you said, “Pay close attention. I’m not saying that your past has to dictate your future. I am saying that the lessons of the past are a stepping stone to your future. Don’t miss the lessons!”

As they say, nothing happens by chance. Everything that happens to us, each lesson, all the details, serve its own purpose in the grand fabric of life.

Great expectations for the year ahead with God and his plans and promises to/for all of us.

  3. OH how great a redo would be! This year has been full of mess and even so, God’s shows how His handiwork can put the smallest, most broken pieces together. His foundation is solid and gives us every reason to have faithful expectations.

Happy New Year! May it be blessed…

  4. “ushering me into another season that will be built upon the past as its foundation” Love this! A few days ago while in mediation on the ministry of the apostles set forth after Pentecost, the Lord said to me, “everything that happened along their journey with Him was preparing them for that which was to come.” What an amazing foundation that was; one that we’re still building upon TODAY! Blessings to you bro!
